Is the condition of the item important?
Not at all! Everything is melted down, so we accept worn and damaged items.
What happens to the stones in the jewellery?
There is no value placed on the stones or settings only the gold, platinum or silver therefore we recommend stones of value be removed prior to selling the gold pieces to Gold Buyers New Zealand.
How do you test the gold?
A testing process takes place which involves weighing the item and testing it with a magnet and magnifying glass. An acid test is the final process. This test will damage the item but will not influence the purchase price. If the item is proven to be fake or plated, it will be returned to you as is.
How long does this process take?
Answer: It takes on average 15mins to determine the karats, weights, and value of the items, but obviously the timeframe will depend on the number of items you have. This process is done at the kiosk in front of you while you wait, so can see and understand the process.
What can I expect to happen at a Gold Social Event?
A Gold Social Event is truly that! Everyone mingles, eats, drinks and chats as they ‘catch up’ in a private home. At the same time individuals who choose to have their gold tested and priced for sale can watch as we do the testing process. The individual receives the valuation and makes the decision of accepting or declining our offer to ‘cash up’ quickly.
